Welcome to the St. John Paul II Cluster Catholic family. We have two parish sites: St. John the Evangelist in Independence, Iowa and St. Patrick’s in Winthrop, Iowa. We cordially invite you to celebrate your Catholic faith with us and share in our spiritual journey. On behalf of the St. John Paul II Cluster Catholic Community and Parish Staff, I would like to personally welcome you to our parish website. I hope that your “visit” will give you a sense of the opportunities for worship and prayer that are offered in our cluster, as well as the various programs for growth in our Catholic faith and the many opportunities for “hands on” ministry.
We believe that our parishes are much more than simply a place to worship once a week. It is also a center for learning, teaching, sharing faith experiences, and for giving and receiving the strength that we all need for our life-long journey with God. We are those servants mentioned by Jesus (Matthew 25:14-30). Each of us have been richly gifted, but these gifts must be invested wisely and generously to help others, according to the principles of good Christian discipleship.
Know that you are most welcome in our cluster parishes. We hope that you will find your faith home here in our community

Kathy Post will lead a book study group for the cluster during the season of Advent. The name of the book is Loved as I Am: An Invitation to Conversion, Healing and Freedom Through Jesus by Sr. Miriam James Heidland S.O.L.T.
Miriam was originally full of athletic ambition and goals for a career in sports news. She was transformed in a very slow but deep way during her undergraduate years, moving from party girl to bride of Christ. In Loved as I Am, Sr. Miriam helps readers learn from her experience of seeking love in the wrong places and instead finding it in Christ. She shares her struggles—learning she was adopted, battling alcoholism, and healing from childhood sexual abuse—as signs of hope that anyone who desires to know Christ can find him and be loved intimately by him in return. By bringing readers into Heidland's healing process, Loved as I Am provides a gentle and subtle template for finding peace and freedom in Jesus.
The group will meet at the home of Kathy and Deacon Post at 6 PM for 4 weeks, starting on Monday, November 27th. Address: 2132 Horseshoe Drive, Independence.
The book can be purchased on Amazon for $11.95 ($10.99 ebook). Call Kathy at 563-608-3151 to register. We will review Chs. 1 and 2 on the first night.
