What is SCRIP?

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift cards & certificates from national and local retailers.  They’re the same gift cards & certificates that you buy at the store.  Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Fareway, Wal-Mart, Kwik Star, Best Buy, Kohls, Menards, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster, Casey’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and many, many others.  In fact, we have over 730 vendors nation-wide!

How does purchasing SCRIP gift cards raise money for the school?

It’s simple — scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift cards & certificates to our organization at a discount.  For example, if you purchase a $100 Kwik Star scrip card, you will receive a $100 value scrip card.  The scrip program purchased the $100 Scrip card for $91.  The $9 difference is the profit for the scrip program.

How do I use the SCRIP Voucher?

You will find the Voucher in the bulletin each week. Cut it out and make copies! Make a purchase at one of the listed vendors using one of the accepted methods of payment. Present the Voucher to the business at the time of purchase, making sure to record your name and transaction amount. The business will keep the voucher and will forward a donation in your name to the St. John’s SCRIP Program.

What are the benefits of using SCRIP?

• Our church and school get a regular source of revenue.
• Once you spend $1,000 in face value of scrip, you receive a rebate of 2% on all your purchases. This rebate can be applied toward your tuition or you can receive the rebate back in cash or in scrip gift cards. This past year we had families that received over $400 in rebates! **Plus, friends and family members can purchase scrip cards and apply their rebate toward your family’s tuition!**

Does my small percentage you earn on the gift cards really matter?

YES! Last year, with everyone’s help, we were able to raise $26,555. Every purchase matters!

How do I order?

Each week on Monday, your child will bring home a scrip envelope. Follow the directions in filling out the order form and return with your child to school on Tuesday morning. Your order will be sent home with your child on Friday that same week.

What if I need scrip right away?

We have a scrip available for purchase during school hours at the main office, or before and after mass on the weekend.
